Barbados Golf Around Package Catering To Enthusiasts
BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS. Golf Around Barbados is now officially open for registration. From May 1 to October 31, golf enthusiasts will get the opportunity to play across three featured courses: Apes Hill Golf Club, Barbados Golf Club and the Sandy Lane Country Club.
Responding to the overwhelming registration for the annual Sir Garfield Sobers Festival of Golf held in April, Golf Around Barbados offers golf lovers a similar experience of enjoying Barbados’ diverse and renowned fairways. Golf has always been a popular sport among visitors to the island. The Golf Around Barbados package was strategically designed based on research and feedback from specialist golf tour operators across Barbados’ top source markets – the U.S.A, Canada, the U.K. and Germany – who visited the island and played the courses. They confirmed that the golf traveller wants to play a minimum of three courses per destination, over a five to seven-night stay.
Golf Around Barbados falls in the middle of the recently launched Barbados Year of Sports 2017, and CEO of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), William ‘Billy’ Griffith, said
that the package has the potential to give the island’s tourism a significant boost. “We are delighted to focus our efforts on positioning Barbados as a serious golf tourism destination in our key markets. Golf is a billion dollar-a-year tourism segment worldwide, and the golf tourist typically stays over a longer period, and spends more than the average visitor. Therefore, if we can establish Barbados as a prime destination for golf, we expect we will see major overall growth for the island’s tourism. We already have the infrastructure; we boast world-class courses that have hosted the WGC World Cup of Golf and many European Senior Tournaments, designed by esteemed architects such as Tom Fazio and Robert Trent Jones. The only thing left for us to do is to properly package and market these resources.”
